True Friendship #24
TRUE FRIENDSHIP
There lived a cunning fox in a forest near the village. He was fond of eating rabbits and he knew that a rabbit lived in the hollow of the neem tree.
Early one morning, the fox came to the neem tree. Seeing the fox, the crow immediately cautioned the rabbit. The rabbit hid himself in the hollow. The fox sat outside the hollow. He did not move from there. He thought, "Every morning, the rabbit goes to the fields to seek food. So he is sure to come out. When he does, I will kill him and have a good meal."
The crow understood the fox's plan. He said to himself. "It is my duty to help my friend." The crow then cawed loudly, "Caw.. Caw... Caw..." Hearing the cawing, as is their custom, several other crows gathered there one by one.
All the crows started cawing loudly together. The crow, who was the rabbit's friend, urged them, "Please get rid of the fox who is sitting under the neem tree."
So, all the crows swooped down on the fox. They pecked him and wounded him seriously. The fox ran away. The crows chased the fox over a long distance.
The rabbit came out of his hole slowly, and thanked his friend, the crow, for saving his life.
