The Wasp's Justice #36

THE WASP'S JUSTICE
bedtime story

In the court of the insects, a wasp was the judge. Whenever there were disputes or differences among the butterflies, the flies, the honeybees and other insects, they went to the court of the wasp with their complaints. They had full faith in the justice of the wasp.

There was a honeycomb on a neem tree. One day, the honeybees went out to collect honey from the flowers, Considering this a good opportunity. some flies entered the honeycomb. When the honeybees came back, the flies confronted them, This honeycomb belongs to us. We have made it. We have collected the honey. So, the honey also belongs to us." There was a quarrel between the two parties. At last, they decided to go to the court of the wasp for justice.

The wasp knew that the flies could not make a honeycomb. But the case had to be tried in the court. He had to listen to both the parties before giving his judgement.

After listening to the honeybees and the flies carefully, the wasp said, "I want each party to make a new honeycomb on the same neem tree. First of all, I will see the shape of the honeycomb. Next, I will taste the honey which is collected therein. And then I will give my judgement about the ownership of the honeycomb."

The honeybees readily accepted the wasp's decision. But the flies argued. "No, we refuse to accept this decision. The honeycomb in question is certainly made by us. We have collected the honey therein. There is no need to make a whole new honeycomb again."

Hearing this, the wasp said, "The flies refuse to make a new honeycomb, but the honeybees are ready to do so. This proves that the honey bees can make a honeycomb, but the flies cannot. This also proves that the flies have trespassed and forcibly occupied the honeycomb. Therefore, the flies should vacate the honeycomb within one hour. This is the order of the court."

The flies were embarrassed and ashamed of their behavior. They quietly flew out of the court. The honeybees occupied their honeycomb once again.
